J 'ai reçu ce Murex Chicoreus microphyllus d' Australie dans un lot de coquilles dont certaines venaient du sud de la Papouasie Nouvelle-Guinée (PNG). Il est généralement plus sombre ce qui peut le faire confondre avec Chicoreus torrefactus. Il s' en distingue par ces petites denticules (7) sur la columelle (pas très visibles sur celui-là). D' après ''What Shells is That'': il semble endémique du nord de la côte-est de l' Australie où il est considéré comme peu commun. Ce qui confirmerait son origine (Sariba Island). Toujours d' après ''What Shells is That'': vit sur la zone récifale dans la zone des marées jusqu' à – 30 mètres. Taille: 68 mm.

I have received this Murex Chicoreus microphyllus from Australia with a seashells bulk with some from Papua New Guinea. It is generally darker that can do it confused with Chicoreus torrefactus. It is distinguished from it by small denticles (7) on the columellar side (not very seeing on this one). According ''What Shells is That'': It seems to be restricted to the northern areas of the east coast where it is considered uncommon. That confirm its origine (Sariba Island). Always to ''What Shells is That'': It lives on coral reef from tidal zone to -30 meters.
